Plant Extract Keeps Sperm Cells in Shape

A substance extracted from the plant French Maritime Pine has proven effective for men with decreased quality of sperm.

It was American researchers who performed the experiment by giving four men a supplement of bark extract from French Maritime Pine for three months. Even though the study does not fulfil the requirements demanded by scientific research the result is still remarkable: After the trial period the number of sperm cells in good shape increased by 99 percent!

The experiment has big perspectives as it seems the method will be able to replace the costly treatment of childless couples. So writes Pharma News number 3/2000.

Pycnogenol, as the substance is called, is normally used as a strong antioxidant with antibacterial qualities and is thought to strengthen for the immune system.
