Cadmium poisoning

Cadmium is a widespread heavy metal in the environment and in our bodies. It is very poisonous, and we only excrete cadmium in very small amounts.

Cancer in general

Generic term for a group of diseases, where the common feature is an abnormal and uncontrollable cell growth. Cancer can occur in all parts of the body and can develop in many different ways.

Candidiasis

Candida with the surname of albicans is a yeast fungus, prevalent in our intestinal system. The term candidiasis means that the fungus has become too widely spread because of malnutrition, antibiotics, contraceptional pills, or heavy metals in the body.

Caries

Cavities in the teeth are caused by bacteria living in the mouth. They secrete acids, especially lactic acid which, if the teeth are not brushed, can cauterize its way through the enamel of the tooth and cause holes. Caries is also related to minerals.

Carpal tunnel syndrome

Caused by swelling around the wristband on the palm side of the wrist. Thereby, nerves, tendons, and blood vessels to the hand get stuck causing sensation disturbances, pain, and reduced strength in especially the thumb, index-, and ring finger.

Cataract

Cloudiness of the lens causing reduced vision. The lens is supplied with oxygen and nourishment from the liquid behind the lens and is dependent on a normal metabolism and protection against free radicals. Often caused by diabetes or other diseases.

Cellulite

Cosmetic defect with puckery orange-peel or cauliflower-like skin areas which is almost exclusively seen in women.

Cervical dysplasia

Cervical cancer is a common form of cancer in women. Cellular dysplasia (cellular changes in the uterine cervix) can be an initial stage of cervical cancer, but in most cases it is caused by other things such as inflammations.

Chemical dependency

Tobacco, narcotics, medicine, alcohol, coffee, sugar, and other alimentaries can all be addictive. In the struggle against abuse, diet therapy and orthomolecular medicine is helpfull.

Chickenpox

A "classical" children's disease. Symptoms are usually mild; red rash, light fever, and indisposition.

Childlessness, involuntary

One of the first consequences of nutrition deficiency and disease is reduced fertility. Severe obesity, chlamydia infection, and poisoning can also cause infertility.

Chlamydia infection

Infection with small bacteria-like parasites, often transmitted sexually. This disease may present with few symptomps, but left untreated, it can cause inflammation of the internal female organs and lead to infertility.

Cholesterol problems

A large concentration of LDL-cholesterol in the blood is not harmful in itself. However, with unfavourable bodily conditions it may contribute to atherosclerosis. People with genetic dispositions may have a dangerously high production of cholesterol.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome -CFS

A condition of massive and prolonged tiredness or exhaustion which is not relieved by resting. Origin is uncertain, but CFS has now been acknowledged as a syndrome of its own and is not caused by other diseases.

Cirrhosis of the liver

The liver is our most important detoxifying organ. Though tolerant in nature, protracted exposure to high concentrations of toxins, medicine, and alcohol, may severely damage the liver. Worst is it when the liver cells are substituted by scar tissue.

Coeliac disease

Hyperensitivity reaction towards substances in gluten found in the cereals of wheat, barley, oats, and rye. The list of symptoms of this disease is long and serious. By excluding gluten from the diet it will be possible to get better.

Cold sores

Caused by chronic infection with the herpes simplex virus. Breakouts are characterized by eruption of small and usually painful blisters on the skin of the lips, mouth and /or gums. See also Herpes simplex.

Cold, Common cold

Transient viral infection of the upper respiratory tract characterized by inflammation of the mucous membranes, sneezing, sore throat, and coughing. Vira are transmitted through coughing, sneezing, or other physical contact with infected individuals.

Colic and colic pain

Attacks of cramps and shooting pains from the abdominal organs. Often seen in infants below 3 months of age. Caused by constipation, irritation of the mucosa of the colon, sensitivity reactions, or stone formations in the biliary- or urinary system.

Colitis ulcerosa

Chronic disease with intermittent inflammation and ulceration in the colon or rectum with stomach pains and bloody diarrhoea.

Common age-related changes

From the moment we are born, we begin ageing; but old age is not a disease. However, with age we can expect some normal changes.

Congenital malformation

The unborn child is vulnerable in the uterus, and the child may be injured during this period. Many risk factors can be eliminated, such as lack of oxygen or defects caused by tobacco, narcotics, medicine, and alcohol.

Constipation

Constipation is characterized by arrest of undigested food components in the colon and retarded bowel movements. The cause of this can be e.g. a suppressed need to have one's bowels moved, and a too low liquid intake.

Copper poisoning

Copper is a vital trace substance but certain diseases, medicine, and sustained overdosing can result in increased levels of copper in your body resulting in poisoning.

Coronary thrombosis

Blood clot in the coronary arteries. Blood tends to coagulate in injured vessels, forming clots that become fixated and arrest circulation. When this happens in the coronary arteries, an area of the heart muscle loses oxygen and nourishment, and dies.

Coughing, hiccups, and hoarseness

Coughing is due to irritation of the airways - due to bronchitis, the common cold, or smoking. It causes rapid exhalation. Hiccups are due to an involuntary contraction of muscles is the diaphragm and hoarseness often is due to overexertion.

Cradle cap

Hereditary disease with increased production of sebum and dandruff. In severe cases the result is eczema than can spread to the face and body. The suffering can also result in hair loss. Fatty dandruff in the scalp in infants is called Arp.

Cramps

Different types of involuntarily muscle contractions. Can appear in smooth muscle of internal organs or in sceletal muscle. A symptom of other illnesses; from vitamin- end mineral deficiencies to epilepsy.

Cretinism

Defective hormone production in the thyroid gland in children, leading to reduced concentrations of triiodothyronine and thyroxin. Caused by a iodine deficiency during prenatal development. Untreated cretinism causes dwarfism and cerebral injury.

Crime

Several studies have found connections between aggression, crime, and nutrition. Diet influences on the amount and distribution of different neurotransmitters. Heavy metal poisoning may also be involved.

Crohn's disease

Intestinal disease with painful diarrhoea as the primary symptom. Caused by inflammation at the end of the small intestine where it connects with the large intestine.

Cystic fibrosis

Hereditary disease, where mucus and sweat gland secretion are affected by expression of a defective gene. It particularly impairs secretion from the pancreas and secretion of mucus in the lungs.

Cystitis

Inflammation of the urinary bladder with frequent and painfull urination (strangury), muddy and foul smelling urine, and pains in the pelvic region.
