Teeth, problems with

Healthy and strong teeth can last a lifetime - i.e. also when we grow old. Make sure to maintain good oral hygiene and to take sufficient amounts of minerals. Prevention is of utmost importance. Toothache almost always requires a dentist appointment.

Tendinitis

Inflammation of tendons and of tendon-muscle attachments, caused by wrench to a joint. Can cause great tenderness and even fixation of the joint.

Tennis elbow

A quite painfull so-called sterile inflammation of the attachments of the tendon on the exterior side of the elbow joint and possibly in the bursa of the elbow. Caused by overloading after many rotating movements of the arm.

Thyroid gland, problems with

The thyroid gland is an important part of the human metabolism; it produces hormones, and diseases related to the thyroid gland are not uncommon. The thyroid function can be overactive (hyperthyroidism) or underactive (hypothyroidism).

Tinnitus

Perception of disturbing sound which does not come from an exterior source. Tinnitus originates from the inner ear or from the hearing centre of the brain.

Tiredness

Tiredness and lack of energy is an explainable symptom of most sufferings. If a good night's sleep cannot cure it, then it must be taken more seriously. Be attentive to diet, stress, noise, kidney function, anaemia, and hormonal disturbances.

Tonsillitis

Inflammation in and around the tonsils at the entrance to the throat. Often caused by bacterial infection, but can also be caused by vira. The disease is rarely serious, and is usually easy to treat.

Tourette syndrome

Congenital neurological disease, involving disturbances in the generation and balance of neurotransmitters in the brain. The condition is characterized by generation of involuntary movements and grimaces, sounds, and actions.

Tropical diseases

Appearing mostly in the tropical zone; Africa, Asia, South America, parts of Central America, North Australia, South- and South East Asia, and the Caribbean. It is recommended to follow certain advice considering bathing, eating, etc. while travelling.

Tuberculosis

Chronic infection, predominantly of the lungs, but found in all inner organs. Symptoms are coughing, fatigue, and dyspnoea. Often the disease is symptom-free for years. Also click "Bacterial infections generally".

Tumours - Nodes

Thickening or swelling of the skin. May be red and sore, and even reduce mobility of nearby joints. Typically seen in relation to arthritis, especially acute articular rheumatism and gout. May disappear or develop into a chronic state.
