Anaemia

The primary cause of anaemia is often iron deficiency, but other factors may contribute to disease development. The symptoms include tiredness, paleness, low blood pressure, cramps, and scotoma (black spots dancing in front of the eyes).

  • Anorexia

    A potentially dangerous eating disorder. Bulimia (binge eating followed by self-provoked vomiting) is related to this condition.

  • Arthritis and rheumatic diseases in general

    Arthritis/rheumatic diseases are generic terms for a group of diseases of the joints, connective tissues, muscles, and tendons. The most common are mentioned here. Also see "Rheumatoid arthritis", "Gout", and "Osteoarthritis".

  • Autoimmune disorders in general

    Auto-immune disorder is a common term for a number of illnesses in which the immune system attacks the cells of its own body.

  • Cancer in general

    Generic term for a group of diseases, where the common feature is an abnormal and uncontrollable cell growth. Cancer can occur in all parts of the body and can develop in many different ways.

  • Colitis ulcerosa

    Chronic disease with intermittent inflammation and ulceration in the colon or rectum with stomach pains and bloody diarrhoea.

  • Crohn's disease

    Intestinal disease with painful diarrhoea as the primary symptom. Caused by inflammation at the end of the small intestine where it connects with the large intestine.

  • Digestive problems

    Generic term for symptoms originating in the alimentary tract, often caused by incomplete digestion of foodstuffs. May be caused by an unhealthy diet, eating too fast, and binge eating. It can, however, also be the result of poisoning or heredity.

  • Menstrual problems

    Problems with the monthly bleeding of fertile women. They can be caused by the pre-menstrual syndrome. The menstruations can be weak, absent, too early, too strong, or prolonged, and irregular menstruation and especially menstrual pains can also occur.

  • Parasite infection

    Microscopical animals e.g. worms, amoebas, and mites can find their way into the intestines, bloodstream, liver, or central nervous system and breed there. Parasites are involved in a number of serious diseases, e.g. malaria and sleeping sickness.

  • Pregnancy, problems of

    Besides bringing happiness, pregnancy can result in small or larger physical problems, such as anaemia, nausea, stretch marks, back pain, indigestion, hair loss, haemorrhoids, loosening of the pelvis, urological problems, oedemas, etc.

  • Tiredness

    Tiredness and lack of energy is an explainable symptom of most sufferings. If a good night's sleep cannot cure it, then it must be taken more seriously. Be attentive to diet, stress, noise, kidney function, anaemia, and hormonal disturbances.

  • Tropical diseases

    Appearing mostly in the tropical zone; Africa, Asia, South America, parts of Central America, North Australia, South- and South East Asia, and the Caribbean. It is recommended to follow certain advice considering bathing, eating, etc. while travelling.
