Angina pectoris

Intense thoracic pain with a feeling of suffocation. Pain may radiate from the chest to the left arm, the jaw and/or upper abdomen. The symptoms are caused by reduced blood supply to the heart (ischemia) usually caused by coronary atherosclerosis.

  • Atherosclerosis

Progressive stricture and possible closure of arteries followed by tissue death. The cause is free radicals causing cholesterol, e.g., to clog up inside the vessel wall and reduce its diametre. Also see "Cardiovascular diseases".

  • Blood pressure problems

Blood pressure often increases with age. However, a 70-year-old can avoid getting a highly increased blood pressure compared to a normal youth blood pressure of 120/80 - particularly if he/she does not smoke, keeps to a healthy diet, and manages stress.

  • Cardiovascular diseases

Cardiovascular diseases are the most frequent cause of death in industrialized countries. A preventive lifestyle and possibly EDTA-treatments are beneficial. Here, you will find info about calcification, angina pectoris, apoplexy, blood clots, AMI, etc.

  • Cholesterol problems

A large concentration of LDL-cholesterol in the blood is not harmful in itself. However, with unfavourable bodily conditions it may contribute to atherosclerosis. People with genetic dispositions may have a dangerously high production of cholesterol.

  • Coronary thrombosis

Blood clot in the coronary arteries. Blood tends to coagulate in injured vessels, forming clots that become fixated and arrest circulation. When this happens in the coronary arteries, an area of the heart muscle loses oxygen and nourishment, and dies.

  • Diabetes

Metabolic disease with reduced ability to remove glucose from the bloodstream, leading to disturbance in carbohydrate metabolism. To live a good and long life with diabetes requires following a strict diet and having an overall healthy lifestyle.

  • Overweight and Obesity

A disproportionately large accumulation of fat in the body's connective tissues. A condition where the body over a period of time has received more calories than it has been able to burn and therefore has deposited this surplus energy as fat.
