Constipation

Constipation is characterized by arrest of undigested food components in the colon and retarded bowel movements. The cause of this can be e.g. a suppressed need to have one's bowels moved, and a too low liquid intake.

Pay attention to returning bloody stools.
See a doctor if the constipation does not stop within a week.
Curled dock (Rumex crispus) and rhubarb (Rheum palmatum) must not be taken by pregnant women.
Senna (Cassia senna) must not be used by pregnant women and children under the age of 5. A sustained use is damaging.
