Prostatitis

Inflammation of the prostate gland. Swelling and pain of the prostate, most often caused by a bacterial infection. Frequent urination, sometimes discharge from the urethra, muddy urine, and fever are some of the symptoms.

Prostatitis is most common in young and middle-aged men. The infection can be caused by several types of bacteria that have been transmitted - possibly because of poor hygiene - in relation to sexual intercourse.

The suffering can also be caused by the venereal diseases gonorrhea that have spread to the prostate gland, or it can be caused by a virus.
