Angelica – Angelica archangelica

A soothing and strengthening herb which is effective for lack of appetite and digestive problems including intestinal gas and colic. Also beneficial for poor circulation.

Angelica is an ancient medicinal herb whose name, which means archangel, indicates that high hopes have been given to its capabilities. Folk medicine has earlier used angelica against malaria and as a sweat-promoting remedy. The seeds were used in salves against lice and the rood was used for menstruation problems and bronchitis, as well as against the illnesses that angelica is still acknowledged to ease. These include various digestive disorders, lack of appetite, infections, and impaired circulation.

The whole plant can be used. Angelica contains (among other things) a large amount of erthral oils and coumarines.

The root works to reduce infection, ease cramping, promote bile movement, and stimulate digestive juices.

The fruit also strengthens the urinary system.
