Astragel - Astragalus membranaceus

Called Huan Qi in Chinese. Astragel is used for stimulating the immune response, reduction of oedemas, against inflammation of the kidneys and liver and in the treatment of chronic viral infection. It is often recommended to cancer and AIDS patients.

Used for the strengthening of digestion and the production of adrenalin, for increasing oxidation, promoting healing, and giving energy to combat tiredness. Used for chronic lung disease.

Huan Qi is the Chinese name for the plant that European botanists have chosen to call Astragalus membranaceus. It is a medical herb that is widely distributed and has been commonly used in China for ages, and we are likely to hear even more about it in the future.

The plant has turned out to contain not just one but a number of immune stimulating- and regulating activate substances that stand out because of their effect against cancer. Therefore, much is expected of Astragalus in the treatment of cancer, leuchemia and not least AIDS, especially when combined with other treatments. As it has turned out, Astragalus and Interferone have a co-operative effect that is much better than the isolated effect of each one of the substances.

The study of Astragalus has also confirmed an old thesis among herbal masters, as an analysis of the plant has revealed not just one, but several active substances that mutually complete each other. A traditional extract from this wonderful herb is therefore, in spite of all fractionation analyses, still the most effective treatment.

Astragalus promotes the body's production of lymphocytes and macrophages and can therefore be used as a daily supplement in an infection-ridden environment as well as in more sophisticated co-operative treatment programmes for cancer- and AIDS patients.

The herb has also shown good results in the treatment of chronic viral infections and contageous hepatitis. Some surveys indicate that Astragalus increases the body's own content of interferon. Can also be used against arrhythmias.
