Chrysin

Belongs to the group of flavonoids. Chrysin is a powerful antioxidant with vitamin-like effects. It is used for increasing the testosterone level of the body and at the same time, the oestrogen level is reduced.

Chrysin is a flavonoid which can be found in e.g. apples and passion-flower, Passiflora coerulea, from which the substance is extracted for commercial use. It is also an antioxidant with vitamin-like effects. Chrysin is able to increase the bodily level of testosterone while at the same time the level of oestrogen is decreased. This happens by way of inhibiting the body's production of the enzyme aromatase which transforms testosterone into oestrogen.

Application
Chrysin is - among other things - used for increasing the total mass of muscles, as an aphrodisiac, and generally for conditions in which a higher level of testosterone and a lower level of oestrogen is desired. Furthermore, the substance seems to be able to relieve stress and anxiety - but without having a lethargic effect.

Unfortunately, the bioaccessibility of Chrysin is not very high. In order to increase the body's absorption of the substance, some producers have added to it a number of substances - e.g. pepper extract or phosphatidyl choline.

Therapeutic dosage
500 - 3000 mg. daily.
Normally, a dose of 500 mg. is taken 3 times a day.
In connection with muscle building, ½ the daily dose is taken 1 hour before exercise and the rest before bedtime.

Please note!
Chrysin is not recommended for women. Men under the age of 18 years should not use it either.

Side effects
Chrysin is not a very much investigated preparation, but the substance is not known for having side effects when the normal dosage recommendations are followed.
