Citrulline

Belongs to the amino acids. Keyword: Exhaustion.

Citrulline belongs to the urea cycle of amino acids along with arginine and ornithine. Removes ammonium from the tissue and counteracts tiredness.

Structurally and functionally, Citrulline is closely related to arginine and ornithine. As a precursor to both arginine and ornithine, it can promote the production of growth hormone.

Citrulline is produced in the body; mostly from ornithine and lysine. We get it mostly from vegetable foods, especially onions and garlic. It is primarily deposited in the liver.

For the treatment of fatigue conditions, this amino acid has been used since the 1950s, but it is still only used rarely in the treatment of illnesses due to insufficient research and its complicated biochemistry .

Part of the problem is that the mentioned closely related amino acids not only are transformed into each other, but also enter into competiton with each other when it comes to absorption and application in the body, and they thereby obstruct each other in some situations.
