Used for fever and various kinds of infections such as colds, inflammation of the throat, the flu, ear ache, frontal sinusitis, and sinusitis.
Ethereal oil, with its content of the active substance cineol, is extracted from the leaves. The ethereal oils have a warming, anaesthetic and pain-relieving effect. Against symptoms in the airways, steam inhalation works best.
Used externally for skin infections, arthritis and nervous pains. When used externally, it also stimulates the blood flow.
Inhalation of ethereal oils
One litre boiling water is poured into a tub, after which five to ten drops of ethereal oil is added and stirred thoroughly. With a towel over the head which also covers the tub, the steam is inhaled for approximately 10 minutes. Afterwards, spend ten minutes in a warm room to adjust your breathing.
Should not be done by children or pregnant or nursing women.
