Flaxseeds contain omega 3 fatty acids, magnecium, potassium, fibres, vitamin B, protein, and zinc. The seeds have a low amount of calories and do not contain cholesterol. They have a nutty taste.
They can be mixed with water, juice or fruit syrup. Flaxseeds can also be put in salads, yogurt, soups, and breakfast cereals. They may also be mixed with fenugreek and be left to soak - which gives a mixture with a digestive effect.
Flaxseeds are blended for only one day's consumption. It liberates the important fatty acids, but they easily go rancid.
The seeds should not be consumed whole if you have a tendency to form diverticula
(protrusions of the inner lining of the intestine).
2 teaspoonfuls of crushed seeds for one cup of water- boil for 2-3 minutes and then let it draw for 20 minutes - 1-2 cups a day. Or leave them to soak overnight.
In case of biliary colic it is possible to consume 50 g. 2-3 times a day or one spoonful of oil.
Should you wish to make a compress, stir the crushed seeds into boiling water to make a porridge which is then used as a warm compress.
Keep the seeds and oil in the refrigerator.
