Inosine takes part in the production of DNA and RNA in the cells. It is important to the energy conversion in the cells - the metabolism. Inosine fascilitates the combustion of carbo-hydrates in the cardiac muscle, and increases body indurance by facilitating the production of ATP in the cells and by increasing the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood.

Inosine is used by many athletes with physically demanding training programmes because of its ability to increase body endurance.
