Nasturtium, common - Tropaeolum majus

Herb used for its antibiotic-, expectorant-, and antiviral effect in cases of inflammation, bronchitis, inflammation of the throat, the flu, and colds. Has skin-healing effects.

Both flowers, fruits, and leaves are used.

Has an antibiotic effect - without damaging the intestinal flora - in case of streptococcus and staphylococcus and a number of other germs and viral infections, e.g. the flu.

Internal use to relieve bronchitis, inflammation of the throat, swollen tonsils, colds, and inflammation of the bladder and the renal pelvis. Used for relieving catarrh in the bronchial tubes and in the nose.

The pulverized fruits have a purifying and laxative effect.

Can be used externally as an disinfectant.

5-6 raw leaves can be eaten a day. Or you can make a tea to increase your resistance to bacterial infections of various kinds.

The leaves have a strong taste of cress and contains much vitamin C. Both flowers and leaves can be used in a salad, both for their taste and for their aesthetic value. You can also preserve the flower buds.

In Germany you can buy tablets made from common nasturtium.
