Oregano, wild - Oreganum vulgare

Aka. Marjoram. There are several species of this herb. Oregano is derived from Greek meaning "Mountain joy". It is most known for its use in Mediterranean food but it also has beneficial fungistatic and antibiotic effects. The oil has analgesic effects.

Since antiquity, wild Oregano has been used against respiratory symptoms, i.e. coughing, throat infection, pneumonia, and sinusitis. Moreover, it has been used against flatulence.

Therapeutic supplements of Oregano should not be used during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.
