The root is used for the treatment of infections and overloading of the respiratory system, especially in case of acute bronchitis, asthma, influenza, and coughing. Besides its sudorific effect, it has expectorant, anti-spasmodi, and calming effects on the mucous membranes. Also good for gall bladder problems, female hormone disturbances, renal diseases, and rheumatism.

Precautions
Do not use herbal medicine if suspect that your symptoms should be clarified by a doctor. If you do not experience any improvement within one month, contact a phytotherapist or naturopath!

Contraindications
Not to be used during pregnancy.

Side effects
At recommended dosage there are no known side effects. Overdose may provoke vomiting.

Dosage
1:2 extract: 3 ml. or one tablespoonful daily, taken with some water. The herb has a strong flavour - you may choose to rinse with your favourite drink.
Dried herb: 3 -12 g. a day.

Further fortification
Immune deficiency: Astragalus membranaceus, Echinacea purpurea root, Sambucus nigra, Uncaria tomentosa.

Alternatively, use the ready-made immune-fortifying complexes: Echinacea Complex or Sambucus Complex.
