Quercetin is involved in the prostaglandin synthesis. The substance counteracts the formation of the leucotrienes can be responsible for the development of inflammatory problems
Quercetin promotes the body's production of insulin and inhibits the accumulation of the sugar sorbitol found in poeple with diabetes. In this way some diabetic complications can be reduced.
In healthy people sorbitol is not accumulated but is broken down into fructose which is secreted by the cell.
Research has also shown that a daily supplement of quercetin lowers the blood pressure by an average of 5 mm Hg.
In nature, quercetin is found in small amounts in plants, particularly in bark and fruit peel.
To achieve a therapeutic effect of the drug, one has to take it as a concentrated food supplement. The best effect is achieved in combination with vitamin C. Quercetin also works well with bromelain.
Therapeutic dosage
500 - 1000 mg a day.
