A whitish, protein-rich thick substance which is produced by the hypopharyngeal glands in the head of nursing bees. It is the only food of the queen bee.
The exact composition of royal jelly is not yet known, but it countains a lot of vitamin B, fat, sugars, and proteins.
The effects have not been scientifically documented, but people who use royal jelly on a regular basis have experienced a generally fortifying effect; it relieves fatigue, gives energy, improves the powers of concentration, and strengthens the immune system.
The substance is supposed to balance the hormone system and is used by many women who suffer from menstrual pain or menopausal problems like hot flushes. For this reason, it is an ideal drug for women, better than ginseng which may disturb the hormone balance in case of prolonged use. Can be taken with e.g. Schisandra.
Royal jelly is believed to stimulate sperm production and improve sperm vitality. Furthermore, it strengthens women's eggs and stabilizes ovulation.
Queen bee food is said to alleviate nervous problem and ageing symptoms and protect against some forms of radition. Royal jelly is used for premature ageing and as a cancer supplement.
Royal jelly in capsules with wheat germ oil (vitamin E) added contains many important nutrients. In other capsules, the vitamins A, -B1, -B2, -B6, and -C have been added plus Biotin (vitamin B8). Such capsules are used as a supplement for hormone- or immune related diseases.
Daily dosage
1-3 capsules daily - or according to prescription.
