Sage is antiseptic and is therefore used for inflammation of the throat, gumboils, mouth ulcers, and tonsilitis.
The antiperspirant effect of sage makes it applicable to the treatment of increased sweating and menopausal hot flushes.
Also used for baby diarrhoea and intestinal gas. It has a calming and expectorant effect and is good for indigestion.
Precautions
Do not use herbal medicine if you are in doubt whether your suspect that your symptoms should be clarified by a doctor. If you do not experience any improvement within one month, you should contact a phytotherapist or naturopath.
Contraindications
Must not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The intake of sage inhibits lactation.
Side effects
No known side effects at recommended dosage. Recommended dosage should be followed.
Dosage
3 ml. or one tbsp. daily. Take it with some water. The herb is strong - you may choose to rinse with your favourite drink.
Further fortification
Against repeated infections: Find the Vitaviva complex best suited for the problem;
Against respiratory problems: Prunus Complex, Euphorbia Complex, or Albizia Complex.
Against menopausal problems: Paonia Complex.
Against gastrointestinal infections: Althea Complex.
