Intestinal health is vital for general well-being. Therefore, it is crucial that the intestinal system functions perfectly. This means that one's bowels should be moved at least once daily.
Dosage
3 ml. daily in some water with meals. Dosage can be increased to 5 ml. twice daily.
Caution
Must not be used during pregnancy.
Should not be used if you have problems with oedema, since liquorice root may retain water. Should not be used in patients with high blood pressure or severe kidney diseases.
Further fortification
Water, water, and more water is the key word against constipation. Drink 2 to 3 litres daily. If you drink coffee or tea it should not be included in the fluid balance, since they are diuretic themselves. Make sure to eat a lot of fibres and supplement with e.g. Psyllium Husk.
Start the day with muesli or porridge with chunks of fresh fruit. Continue throughout the day with raw vegetables, a carrot, whole grain biscuits, or salad. Avoid potatoes, bananas, and cheese since they have a constipating effect. For some people, all dairy products are constipating.
Eat whole grain bread only. White bread sticks to the intestinal wall and increases the risk of constipation.
If Cassia Complex does not help, you can easily supplement with either Silybum Complex or Gentiana Complex.
If you suffer from both constipation and intestinal gas, you can advantageously supplement with lactic acid bacteria.
Herbs which reduce gas include peppermint, chamomile, anis, and fennel. They can be drunk as tea, and anis- and fennel seeds can be chewed after meals.
Contents pr. 100 ml:
Liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra): 20 ml
Senna leaves (Cassia sp.): 15 ml.
Mexican Yam (Dioscorea villosa): 20 ml.
Yellow dock (Rumex crispus): 20 ml.
A further 25 ml. of glycerol has been added as a flavouring ingredient.
Total contents: 100 ml.
