Thyme - Thymus vulgaris

Bacteriostatic and fungistatic, expectorant, anti-spasmodic, and with a calming effect on mucous membranes. Effective against coughing, increased mucous production, inflammation of the throat, bronchitis, laryngitis, indigestion, and gingivitis.

Reduces the level of cholesterol. Thyme inhibits bacterial growth and increases the production and secretion of mucus. The drug is particularly effective against infections with dry coughing and viscous mucus.

Used for bronchitis, inflammation of the throat, and catarrh of the larynx. Also good for indigestion and gastrointestinal catarrh. Disinfectant against cystitis and used for dabbing inflammated gums.

Precautions
Never use herbal medicine, if you are in doubt whether your symptoms should be clarified by a medical doctor. If you do not experience considerable improvement within one month you should contact a phytotherapist or naturopath.

Contraindications
Should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Side effects
At the recommended dosage, no side effects are known.

Dosage
3 ml. or one tablespoonful daily. To be taken with a little water. The herbs are strong, you may choose to rinse afterwards with your favourite drink.

In case of gingivitis dilute with some water and dab the gums directly.

Further fortification
In case of respiratory problems: Prunus Complex.
In case of general immune response problems: Echinacea Complex.
In case of cystitis: Uva-ursi Complex.
In case ofindigestion: Cassia Complex (constipation), Althea Complex (diarrhoea).
To induce digestion: Gentiana Complex.
