As analgesics, white Willow is best for chronic pains. It inhibits the prostaglandin synthesis and which is responsible for the body reactions to inflammation and pain.
Willow does not have the side effect that Aspirin is known for; irritation of the intestinal mucosa. Also it is not blood diluting.
For rheumatism Willow is best used in combination with other herbs, e.g. Devil's claw or Grapple plant (Harpagophytum procumbens), Guajacum, Celery seeds (Apium), and Matrem (Tanacetum).
Willow is good for arthritic rheumatism, osteoarthritis, gout, muscle pains, inflammation of the synovial membrane, spondylitis, and feverish flu.
Caution
Willow may cause allergic reactions in some people.
Overdosing may cause diarrhoea and vomiting.
