This plant has been known since the antiquity in both the East and the West - especially because of its ability to stop internal and external bleedings and to heal wounds. In this case, it is used both internally and externally. Common yarrow is anti-inflammatory.
Common yarrow can also be used in a number of other areas, e.g. for women's diseases. If the menstration is absent for other reasons than pregnancy, in case of menstrual pains and too strong a menstruation, and other spastic conditions in the abdomen.
In case of infections and fevers, common yarrow can be mixed with elderberries which are good for viral infections and with peppermint which can relieve the discomfort and also has a sudorific effect.
Common yarrow can also be used on its own or along with peppermint for digestive problems and colic pains to stimulate the appetite and the digestion. Can be tried as part of the treatment of anorexia nervosa.
Due to its blood-vessel dilating effect, common yarrow can be used for hypertension.
Dosage
4 g. of herb are heated in ½ litre of water to the boiling point. The tea is to draw warmly for 2 hours. Drink 2 to 3 times a day.
Please note
Common yarrow is not toxic but can in larger doses have a disturbing effect on the absorption of iron and other minerals.
Should not be used during pregnancy.
